Sandy Island

A low sand cay off Hillsborough with flat turquoise water. It's mostly a stop on kite-cruise trips and you get there by boat. It's a marine protected area, so watch for moorings and swimmers.

Remote spot: not recommended for beginners or intermediates.Help is far away if something goes wrong. Only ride here if you're experienced and self-sufficient: go with a buddy, arrange boat support, and tell someone your plan.
