Nature reserve at the east end, best in NE to E winds from Long Bay East. Rig on the sand, as tree debris on the grass can puncture kites. Many islets lie 100–1,000 m offshore with rocks either side of the beach. Do not ride near the airport runway: Clearwater Beach and the runway side of Castle Harbour are off-limits.
